Task 1- Production management

Production management – A project manager is someone who is in charge of everything, they control the Pre-production, the production, and the post-production side. The role of a production management is to come up with an idea and do all the paperwork for it such as the proposal, research, target audience, risk assessments. They have to keep everything and everyone sorted and organised to show that they have good team leader skills, challenges that they face will be things such as sorting dates with clients that both suit their preferences.

Corporate and Promotional programme production – The purpose of this is to make a video which provides information about the company which people such as investors or customers will be interested in. This differs from an advert, as adverts are made to make you want to buy or use the product, whereas this gives you information about it. This can also be used for educational/training programme DVDs so that employers at a company can show the regulations to employees with ease.  For example I found an instructional video for a supermarket, in the video they show example of good things to do when working and how to do them appropriately, they also show what not to do on the job, they used examples of someone being disruptive for the customers by pinging rubber bands at customers and sleeping on the job.

Social Action and Community Media production – The purpose of this is to give awareness of a specific subject or company, charities use this is to raise awareness of the problems, suffering and illnesses that their organisation is about, for example I found a charity video talking about the problems that water can have on people that live in third world countries where water is not very common and have to travel hours to get water that is contaminated with germs that could kill. The charity, Charity Water, have made a social action video to raise awareness of the problem that people may not be aware of or even know of.

From this project I understand the work that is required by me has to be professional, as I am potentially working for a client and they have to look over my work, to approve, improve and clarify for me to be able to move on with my work and to create the project piece. Also that the work has to be put onto my personal blog to be accessed by a lecturer instead of submitting a production file that has all my work in. This is also available to look at for my client so that they can see how I am getting on with my work, to keep up to date and keep track of where I am.
