Evaluation of First Shoot Day

I arrived at the B&B and met with Steve, we had a discussion about what my ideas were and what I had in mind for the video. He then went on to tell me what the main selling points were for his B&B. He then went on to say that he couldn’t have an interview today as he wanted to jot some notes down on what he wanted to include in the interview, and also he had to be somewhere. Steve then left me to go round the house filming the rooms and the house. I set my camera up and tripod and went in each room taking shots, it took me a couple of hours to get all the rooms filmed and done. Overall I was there for a good 2-3 hours going round the house filming, I also made sure to include some outside shots of the house, to give people a decent first expression.

I think that my shoot went well as I had freedom to go round the house and film at my own pace and style to get my desired effect and style. Although I have to go back and have an interview with Steve on a different day, it actually benefitted me as my card was full with only a few minutes left of filming, so even if I was able to get an interview I wouldn't be able to film much.

What I found hard about the filming was setting the camera up in a place that showed all aspects of the room, but without repeating the same shots and the same areas of the room, I experimented and played around with the style and shots that I was filming to get a different effect and feel to use in my video. I also made sure to film more than I needed so I could have more freedom with the video in my edit.

Steve was also talking to me about his website and the material he had on there, he mentioned that there wasn’t any pictures of one of the apartments he owns for people to look at and suggested that I could make a short video for each room showing what they are like.
